Not sure which sealant, caulk, or other product is right for your job? Looking for the nearest location to buy products for your next home project? Don’t know exactly how to tackle your repair? We’re here to help.
Yes. In fact, we add both a mildewcide AND are the only Log home stain manufacturer to put algaecide in our products. In areas of high humidity, we do recommend additional mildewcide to help give extra protection. Sashco has tested and recommends M-1 for this job.
Yes, you can, so long as the coverage guidelines are still followed. If the coverage guidelines say you should be using between 20-25 gallons to cover your home, you should brush on that same amount, even if it means brushing on 3-4 coats. Also, when brushing, be sure to use a good quality brush (such as Purdy brand) that has the split ends to soak up as much stain as possible. And, as with all stain application, be sure to thoroughly mix the stain with a drill-driven mixer before and during application, as well as box the same stain of different lot numbers. This will ensure an even, consistent color at all times.
Nope. Bad idea. It’ll diminish the performance of both, won’t dry right, and will leave you feeling sad.
Symphony works in harmony with the unique character of your logs and wood to reflect an atmosphere of cozy warmth and elegance while creating a scuff-resistant and durable surface that’s easy to dust.
If you are wondering how to maintain your log home’s interior, look no further than Symphony Interior Wood Clear Coat. Symphony Interior Clear Coat is a crystal clear interior finish that not only protects wood from yellowing over time but also helps shed dust and protects logs from damage by household cleaning chemicals. It is easy to apply to your log home and can be used over bare or stained wood.

Symphony itself will not yellow. It’s what we call non-aliphatic. However, the wood underneath Symphony will yellow over time and could cause some wonderful yellow outlines around anything you hang on the wall. To avoid this, we recommend you use Colorfast under Symphony. Colorfast is a powerful antioxidant that prevents yellowing of the wood itself over time.
In most cases, just water will do the trick. However, on stubborn dirt, you can use gentle cleaners. Stay away from anything harsh that might strip the finish off the wood.
To get the best sheen build and cleanability, it’s best to apply at least 2 coats if you’re using Symphony alone. If it’s being applied over top of Capture or Transformation Siding & Trim, you can get away with 1 coat, but usually 2 gives you the desired sheen and build.
Need to? Nope. Might you want to in order to create a really smooth surface? Yes. If you decide to sand between coats, just do a light buff with either Buffy Pads or 220 grit sandpaper.
Transformation Siding & Trim is the no-peel, easy-to-maintain stain for your siding, trim, and decks. Clean up is easy with simple water clean up. Use it indoors and out, since Transformation Siding and Trim is VOC compliant. With a unique formula of water and acrylic-modified resins, Transformation Siding and Trim Stain offer durability and a breathtaking finish for your log home or other wooden vertical surfaces.Â

Not sure which sealant, caulk, or other product is right for your job? Looking for the nearest location to buy products for your next home project? Don’t know exactly how to tackle your repair? We’re here to help.
Transformation Siding & Trim is very easy to maintain. Simply do a light powerwash to remove surface dirt, pollen, etc., allow the surface to dry, and apply a fresh coat. Simple as that.

Yep, sure is and yep, you sure can. We changed the name and suggested surfaces many moons ago in an effort to show people the best place to use the stain. It can still be used on logs, of course. It will just require slightly more frequent maintenance than our other two exterior stains, Capture Log Stain and Transformation Log & Timber.
Bring old, damaged, gray, and weathered logs back to life with this flexible oil-based semi-transparent stain.
When it’s time to restore an eroded, failing stain, or if you need to maintain a coating that has lost its luster, remember one word, Transformation. Better yet, remember two words: Transformation Stain. Transformation Log and Timber Stain will transform the appearance of your exterior logs and exterior vertical woodwork from dull and lifeless to rich and brilliant – especially for older logs needing restoration. The stain that’s easy to remember because its name describes what you want and what it provides, Transformation!

Anywhere from 12 – 36 hours, depending on your temperature and humidity. In areas of high humidity (50% or higher), it will take a full 24 hours for a coat to dry. In dry desert areas, like the Colorado mountains, 12 hours may be enough. Always make sure the first coat is thoroughly dry before applying the second coat to ensure even coverage, proper color and sheen build, and beautiful results.
“Deep penetrating” and “penetrating” are buzz words in the stain industry. Yes, Transformation Log & Timber penetrates. It is not like a non-drying oil (like most common deck stains) where it leaves a waxy, oily film on the surface and then burns off over time. It penetrates into the wood to bond with the wood fibers to create a flexible-yet-tough film that keeps out bugs, moisture and UV – all of which degrade your wood over time.
Well, not anytime soon. They still make up 80% of the market globally and are still the best choice for surfaces that have had an oil-based product on them previously. Oil-based products are used in a vast array of applications outside of just wood, so it’s safe to say they’re sticking around for a while.
Transformation Log & Timber should be maintained where needed, when needed. On the south and west walls, that could be every 2-4 years. On the north and east walls, it could be longer. Keep your eye on them. When you start to see fading or a loss of sheen, it’s time to do maintenance. Simply do a light power wash of the surface to remove dirt, pollen, etc., allow the surface to dry, and apply a new coat. Over Natural and Brown Tone Light, use more of that same color. Over all other colors, you can use Gold Tone Light to refresh the protection without making the color darker.

That’s not a great idea. Not only will the color be difficult to replicate in the future, more importantly, durability will be compromised. It’s better to simply choose a lighter color with the proper pigment load to get the color you’re looking for – without compromise.
In final appearance and in many of the raw materials, yes. Obviously, the mixing method is different, and we’ve added items to the Flex Tint cartridge to ensure the pigments stay suspended, don’t separate, flow out of the cartridge easily, and mix in properly.
No. Flex Tint is specifically formulated for Sashco’s stains, especially when it comes to VOC limits. They may not mix in properly with a competitor’s product, so we don’t recommend it
Stir until completely mixed, which generally takes 3-5 minutes. A couple extra minutes won’t hurt. Pigments can settle at the bottom of the pail in as little as 15 minutes, so normal mixing (3-5 minutes before starting and every 20-3 minutes throughout stain application) is still a must.
Now that Capture Log Stain is applied, it’s time for Cascade Clear Topcoat to bring out the depth and character of your unique woodgrain while protecting it against moisture, mildew, and algae. Cascade provides a weather-repellant crystal clear finish while protecting against mildew discoloration and surface cracking of your logs or other vertical wood features of your log home such as log siding, wood trim, and hand-peeled deck rails. Predictable and affordable routine maintenance with Cascade throughout the years means your home stays protected and beautiful. Easy!
