Only install Cobra Rods in highly-exposed logs, such as protruding perlins, bottom courses of logs that see a lot of sitting snow or splashback, and the like. They’re not necessary in areas that see normal amounts of rain or snow.
That’s highly unlikely, but possible. Because they contain copper, they can give a greenish or reddish tint to the wood if they get all the way to the surface. That’s very rare and, if it happens, always very faint.
