No. Carpenter Bees don’t actually ingest the wood, so they are not affected by borate treatments.
As with all borate products, the answer is no. In order for Tim-bor to perform its intended function, it has to penetrate into bare, clean wood. If a coating exists on the wood surface, it acts as a barrier to the Tim-bor/water solution, prohibiting penetration and retention.
No. Tim-bor is only effective if allowed to soak into the barewood and create a “shell” of protection. If used in the stain itself, it won’t mix in properly and any that is left will simply leech out of the surface quickly. It needs to be used under a stain of some kind.
