Tips You Need to Know to Revive Your Chimney Using Mor-Flexx Caulk.

What do you get when you bring in a contractor and a manufacturer together for a project? We say: A successful chimney tuckpointing job.

Sashco President and team members, Les, Sabrina, and Randy, worked with Shane Guerra, an experienced contractor and owner of Synergy Property Solutions, to repair a chimney using Mor-Flexx, an acrylic latex caulk that works perfectly for repairs on: stucco, cinder blocks, vertical concrete, and as mortar between bricks and stone.

At Sashco, we know this product works – but how does it work in the field? How are experts using it to repair and how can we learn from those who use our products on a regular basis?

According to Sabrina Rothfuss, a Sashco Sales team member, “this was an opportunity with Shane to really get out there, get up on the roof with him, and watch where he was using it, why he was using it, and why it was important.”

By using Mor-Flexx, Shane explained that the repair was a lot easier to complete. “We did a chimney tuckpointing using Mor-Flexx, which allowed us to basically do it while we’re there, without outsourcing it. You know, our in-house guys can basically use and apply the products themselves.”

Shane also described how he was able to use Mor-Flexx on a variety of projects stating, “I  use Mor-Flexx on a lot of concrete and tile repairs, so it works with that. Before, a lot of people used silicone or they’ll use a caulking that just breaks down over time and it ends up just shedding the water and doesn’t really repair or resurface the concrete – Mor-Flexx does.”

Along with being able to use Mor-Flexx for different projects, Sashco staff members were also able to highlight the ease of using the product, even in the most difficult environments.

Les Burch, CEO, added, “it was a learning experience for them and us. Being on the roof, and chimney, for example, it was really steep to get where we needed to go. While up there, we were able to show them that it was fairly easy, because with Mor-Flexx, you can fill the join between the bricks up and you just have to strike it flat – there’s not a lot of tooling or shaping because when it dries, it shrinks naturally a little bit to the shape of a mortar joint anyway.”

Having the opportunity to collaborate and learn from one another is just one of the reasons that make Sashco products great. With the manufacturers learning from contractors, and vice versa, we’re able to stand behind our belief in creating Products That Work – products that work for our contractors, roofers, and DIYers, no matter the project.

Sabrina said it best when she expressed, “It gives us an opportunity to really solidify our claim to where our products benefit the contractor, and, again: learning, learning, learning – we have a lot to learn!”
