Overhangs / Porches
Because it is the combination of water and sun (UV rays) that does the most damage to finishing products, you want to plan for long overhangs and, when possible, porches.

Log Placement
All of these homes start the 1st course of logs well off the ground eliminating snow buildup, rain splash back and water from sprinkler systems from wearing away the coating on the bottom log courses.
