Contrary to present inclinations in the industry, Sashco Log Home Products, manufacturer of finishing products for log home construction made a decision to hire Arnie Didier, to serve as their new northwest sales rep.
"Sashco is very cognizant of the struggle many of our customers face in the current economic climate, we want to support them any way we can. Sashco evaded the decline in growth that plagued almost every other competitor across-the-board this year. When asked why they believed that to be true, Sashco attributed a confidence in maintaining and building a strong sales team as one "very strong" contributing factor. Minter stated that, "We are thrilled and humbled to be in a position to be able to continue recruiting employees to Sashco with Arnie's caliber of experience and knowledge. Sashco Launches New Log Home Thermography Training Courses
In a slow building market, Sashco's new thermographic training courses provide painters, builders, contractors, or anyone looking to start a new business opportunities for added income.
Colorado based Sashco Log Home Products introduces Insector Detector, a brand new thermographic log home scanning and diagnostic training course. The Insector Detector program provides distinctive education as one of the first of its kind in the industry to train on the thermographic imaging technique specifically for use in log homes. Sashco has also expanded and enhanced their industry renowned Zero Failures Seminar, a technical course that trains contractors to enter the lucrative field of log home finishing and maintenance.
Significant downturns in the housing and construction markets, and their resulting impact on the economy, make finding a niche service and new avenues for added income more important than ever before for many contractors. And bands of other professionals who find themselves out of work after suffering the IT fallout are exploring innovative new careers paths. For both groups, learning about Sashco's unique training opportunities is like finding a hidden treasure.
Despite the difficult housing market, log home building continues to gain popularity and is still the preferred style of home for many baby-boomers. In fact, numerous homeowners are opting to build log homes now while land costs have moderated and interest rates remain low. Log home owners comprise a niche market often willing to pay for specialized expert services like those taught in Sashco's Zero Failures and Insector Detector training courses.
Sashco's new Insector Detector training is a two-day course that introduces students to the lucrative log home thermography market. Sashco Project Manager, Tari Warwick, explains that, "Log home owners often suffer extreme frustration over the discomfort caused by both the penetration of bugs and unwanted air into their homes. These homeowners recognize the value of, and are willing to pay for, an expert who can identify those areas that allow bugs and air to enter. Sashco's Insector Detector training provides contractors with the tools and knowledge they need to employ thermography as a means of relieving homeowner frustration by identifying entry points for bugs and air that can provide considerable energy savings, as well as added comfort."
Sashco's newly enhanced Zero Failures Seminar is the prerequisite to Insector Detector training. Zero Failures is an intensive two-day technical training course that dedicates equal amounts of time to both classroom learning, and hands-on training from some of the industry's top log maintenance experts. Sashco's Zero Failures Seminar teaches best practices for log home preparation, care and maintenance, and product application, as well as teaching the differences between wood and logs and how best to maintain them.
A recent graduate of Sashco's Zero Failures course reported back three short months after completing his training explaining that, "My Zero Failures training has made me more money than any other schooling I've ever done, including high school and college."
Both Zero Failure's and Insector Detector training courses are scheduled for October, January, and March, 2008. For more information or for specific course dates, visit Sashco's Web site at www.sashco.com, or call 1-800-767-5656.

Denver-based Company's Product Will Protect World's Largest Washboard
Add another odd entry to the record books. Yes, you read it correctly – the world's largest washboard is about to make history. Logan, Ohio's, Columbus Washboard Company, established in 1895, is the last remaining washboard company in the United States. The company, who still constructs each handmade washboard one by one, has assembled the largest washboard in the world. The monstrous 24 x 12 foot washboard record winner will be unveiled Father's Day weekend at the 2004 International Washboard Festival in Logan, Ohio.
The washboard will be carefully attached to the 11,000 square foot, three-story Columbus Washboard Company building where is will reside suspended 32-feet in the air. The already popular tourist attraction will undoubtedly be a little easier to find with its notable new addition.
The washboard designers are tending to the final stages of construction in preparation for the June 18, 2004 unveiling. Columbus Washboard Company owner and manager, Jacqui Barnett explains that, "a major consideration in finishing the massive creation is staining the wood so it will survive the powerful punch of Mother Nature 32-feet in the air." Barnett continued, "We want it to hold up so it will survive for a long time as a tourist attraction for people to enjoy. My husband, Bevan, builds log homes so he knows what stains protect wood the best. He knew we needed the best stain we could get. We'll be using Sashco's Capture Log Stain/Cascade stain system because it's the only product that will hold up in this extreme outside exposure."
The construction team has spent weeks sawing, sanding, and gluing parts together and now the fruit of their labor is nearly complete. This year's Washboard Festival will certainly be one to remember with a giant guest of honor that's sure to make a "splash" amongst washboard enthusiasts everywhere.

A Great Customer Service Experience?
Yes! I Wood Care, You Would Care, We Would All Care!
"To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity." –Douglas Adams
While there are many factors that make Sherburne, New York's, I Wood Care unique, perhaps the greatest is their consummate approach to customer service. In this—an automated, in and out, fast-food, flurried—time, more consumers are craving an unhurried, personal approach to service. I Wood Care has made a name for itself by offering just that.
"The customer comes first" and "the customer is always right," are at times used as cheeky phrases. At I Wood Care they are spoken with complete sincerity, a refreshing approach that patrons sense from the moment they walk through the door.
"We really value customer service, it's not unusual for us to be on the phone helping our customers for 10-minutes to an hour. We don't rush anybody," commented I Wood Care manager Dick Alger.
Since its founding in 1994, I Wood Care has supplied log home manufacturers, dealers, professional contractors, and log home owners with products and guidance for preserving and maintaining log homes. I Wood Care is not only committed to selling the highest quality products, but also to providing their customers with the knowledge necessary to successfully complete their log home finishing projects.
I Wood Care customer Phil Bucantis said, "I knew nothing about how to refinish a log home, I knew nothing about log homes in general. I Wood Care took the time to walk me through everything I needed to do to finish my log home. I couldn't have been happier with the products or the service. They were just great. I used mostly Sashco products and while I may have gotten them cheaper somewhere else, with the service and advice I got from I Wood Care, I just felt compelled to buy there. I haven't needed to interact much with them since then because everything they recommended worked so well!"
If real service is measured by sincerity and integrity, I Wood Care has it down pat. Consumers can rest assured that they will receive the kind of excellent service they deserve and the expertise they expect when they do business with I Wood Care.

Professional Log Home Applicators Get the Edge on Their Competitors
Sashco Log Home Finishing Products, the makers of Log Jam and Conceal, wow professional applicators with Chinker's Edge, their new chink formula designed specifically for professional chinkers. Chinker's Edge makes work go faster! It gives professionals the edge with fast tooling and easy clean up—savings as high as 20% in labor costs or application time.
How can Sashco make these claims? Professional chinkers have developed and tested the final formulation. Tooling is unbelievably easy, and, because little to no water is needed in the tooling process, clean up is practically eliminated.
"Chinker's Edge cleans up better and used half the water. It didn't stick in nooks and crannies and cleans up with a sponge. My crew was 25% faster when tooling Chinker's Edge," says Reuben Toavs of Fort Northwest Log Restoration.
Sashco asked professional applicators which colors their customers request most often and made Chinker's Edge available in the five most commonly requested colors. Performance is guaranteed with a 10-year warranty, or a Limited Lifetime Warranty when used with any of Sashco's stains. Exceptional performance professionals expect coupled with time and labor savings give chinkers the edge, Chinker's Edge.
