Sashco is helping preserve the last home of Davy Crockett!
Follow along with us!
Sashco, The Log Home Resource Center, and the Little Rock Eagle Scouts are proud
to restore the historic last home of Davy Crockett.
Davy Crockett - historic legend, pioneer, politician, and American hero. The very
name Davy Crockett brings forth timeless images of America 's historic past. For
years, Davy Crockett and his fellow frontiersman have marked the pages of history
and inspired the playtime parody for little lads.
This cabin, located in Rutherford , Tennessee is the reconstructed home of Davy
Crockett. He settled on a farm where the cabin resides. Following his last defeat
for reelection to congress, he left for Texas , where he died in the Alamo massacre.
The cabin now serves as a memorial to him and as a frontier museum. Davy Crockett's
mother is also buried at this location, behind the cabin. Within the cabin are original
artifacts that have been preserved all these years and many of the original logs
date back to the 1820's. The building is in fair condition, however it badly needs
maintenance in order to preserve it for future generations to enjoy. Davy Crockett
was regarded as an upstanding citizen and a heroic man of integrity who was held
in high esteem by his fellow men. In the same spirit, we hope to protect this historic
site to continue the legend and history of Davy Crockett's life.
